NCHRP Project 12-74
The goal of NCHRP Project 12-74 was to take precast bent cap details from concept to implementation to accelerate bridge construction in all regions of seismicity. Dr. Tobolski was a pivotal member of the research team working through the University of California San Diego.
Throughout the project, Dr. Tobolski was active in all aspects of the research program including: development of conceptual connection and system details, evaluation of seismic and service performance of concepts, design and review of prototype bridges, design of a large-scale experimental program, construction observation of test specimens, oversight of testing, analysis of test results, various levels of detailed analysis, development of design recommendations and dissemination of project progress and recommendations to government, industry and academia.
