Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System
Aegis Ashore is the land-based component of the Ballistic Missile Defense System. Aegis BMD and Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) upgrades are being phased into deployed Aegis BMD ships and land-based facilities. Each upgrade provides the capability for countering ballistic missile threats.
Tobolski Watkins served as the Design Review Panel for the structural analysis and design of the AEGIS Ashore Deckhouse with particular attention to seismic performance. This project was designed in accordance with UFC 3-310-04 and a series of project and equipment specific modifications. The AEGIS Ashore Deckhouse is specified as a Mission Critical I structure, therefore must satisfy the requirements of Appendix E of UFC 3-310-04.
