Tobolski Watkins Engineering

Panoche Energy Center

Tobolski Watkins was retained by Evaptech to perform final design of a four-cell fiberglass cooling tower for use at a power plant in northern California. Due to the non-typical distribution of mass and stiffness, a three-dimensional finite element model was used. This model was utilized for dynamic response spectrum analysis to develop realistic estimates of element demands and distribution effects.

Design of members and connections was conducted with a variety of in-house design sheets which were validated against test data. The final product was presented and defended by Tobolski Watkins with the California Energy Commission’s representatives. Tobolski Watkins completed multiple site visits to conduct structural observations in accordance with California Building Code provisions and project requirements.
