Scripps Green Hospital Chiller Plant
Scripps Green Hospital required a new chiller plant to meet facility demands. The selected system was a modular plant by Systecon. This system includes modules that are shipped to the site and connected to provide a singular structure and also includes a large cooling tower support system that straddles the plant building.
Tobolski Watkins provided engineering services to Systecon including design of the main structure as a nonbuilding structure. Special attention was required to ensure this complicated system could be erected on site. Additionally, the large cooling tower support system had special challenges to satisfy strength and deflection requirements within very tight geometric constraints. The design also included all anchorage of nonstructural systems.
