Concrete Anchorage Testing
Dr. Watkins developed and implemented a nuclear (NQA-1) grade qualification program for post-installed anchors and grouted rebar dowels. Testing was performed to satisfy the ACI 349 so that the results could be used on DOE projects.
The program qualified undercut anchors, heavy duty sleeve anchors, and grouted rebar dowels. The effects of edge distance, spacing, splitting, and seismic loading effects in cyclic cracks were investigate. Testing was performed at an independent testing agency and was certified by a professional engineer.
Dr. Watkins is a recognized technical expert in the use of post-installed concrete anchors. He has developed design and installation specifications and presented test results at ACI 355 code committee meetings as well as for peer review groups such as the Army Corps and DOE.
