For nuclear applications, many HVAC systems rely heavily on filtering systems to ensure that potentially contaminated materials are not released into the environment. High efficiency particulate air filters are aimed at ensuring even the smallest particles are captured. It is essential that these systems maintain their seals and pressurization such that these filters are engaged.
Tobolski Watkins, in conjunction with Clark Testing Group, has performed certification testing of these systems to ensure functionality is maintained during and after a seismic event. These projects also included the design development and defense of custom fixtures to attach the test specimens to seismic simulation equipment. These fixtures require detailed analysis to ensure the proper transmission of dynamic loadings.
