Seismic certification of transformers requires the careful attention to the construction details relating to the connection of the core and enclosure. Additionally, consideration of varying materials of construction and product features requires a complete review of product configurations and potential variations required to be considered during testing.
Tobolski Watkins has helped a number of transformer manufacturers in special seismic certification, including: Hammond Power Solutions, Siemens Industries, Powersmiths, Jefferson Electric, MGM Transformers and ABB. The majority of this seismic certification work resulted in obtaining an OSP preapproval with OSHPD.
